Finally got the chance to read Will Grayson Will Grayson,
co-written by two utterly talented authors, John Green and David Levithan.
Quickie Amazon Summary:
One cold night, in a most unlikely corner of Chicago, Will Grayson
crosses paths with…Will Grayson. Two teens with the same name, running in two
very different circles, suddenly find their lives going in new and unexpected
directions, and culminating in epic turns-of-heart and the most fabulous
musical ever to grace the high school stage.
You're immediately thrust into the minds of two same-named
individuals coping with long-term depression, homosexuality, and the concept of
truth in love. One of the things I really like about this novel is that it
reaches out to not just young adults, but a specific type of young adult. One
of the characters’ lives his life through the internet, only making social and
romantic connections through electronic mediums. Another character constantly
throws himself into a new relationship as soon as one ends, thereby hurting
himself emotionally over and over again. That’s why I believe this to be true,
because we all know or knew someone like these people growing up or even now.
Whether it’s a friend, family member, or the reader.
The back and forth between John Green and David Levithan is
very complimentary and interesting. One never takes over the other or is more
or less riveting than the other. They take their characters in stride and at
the same time keep the plot moving forward in a way that’s very pleasing.
I hope to see something more come from this book, maybe a
movie adaptation or a musical from Tiny (Will Grayson). I seem to have only one
issue with John Green novels, and that's that they end.
Rating: 9/10

someone you're afraid to love, or somewhere you're afraid to go. It's gonna
hurt. It's gonna hurt because it matters.”
